5th Grade Curriculum
|
|
Project Overview:
We were required to make a 2 week long science curriculum for 5th graders. My partners were Austin Marshall, Scott Fischer, and Peter Hunt. We had to look at the California standards for 5th grade chemistry first to meet the requirements. You can see the results above. In the final presentation, we came up with 1 teacher demo, 3 student activities, 5 labs, and a cumulative quiz on the topics covered. We did this by mainly brainstorming and researching many ideas and these are the results.
Reflection:
After doing this activity,I found out how hard it actually is to come up with curriculums. There is a lot of research involved, and it takes quite a bit of time just to come up with three weeks out of the 39 weeks we are at school. I also learned more about the different types of learning. For me, I think that the best way to learn is through brief notes, then through a project, then through a more deep-dive explanation of what we did. I think we used this idea in the curriculum and I think most people will learn better this way. All-in-all, I found this a nice experiment and it wasn't all that hard. Now I have a newfound respect for teachers and how much work they put in.
