Photosynthesis Lab
Purpose: To see if different wavelengths and intensity of light will affect the amount of photosynthesis that happens.
Hypothesis: Control (no covering)- black/ blue (most starch)
Black paper- brown (little starch)
Blue cellophane- middle amount of starch, middle wavelength
Materials: plant, black paper, blue cellophane, test tube, tape, iodine, alcohol, petri dishes
Procedure:

Black paper- brown (little starch)
Blue cellophane- middle amount of starch, middle wavelength
Materials: plant, black paper, blue cellophane, test tube, tape, iodine, alcohol, petri dishes
Procedure:
- Cover 1 leaf in black paper and 1 leaf in cellophane paper
- Leave for 1-2 days
- Uncover leaves and cut the 3 different leaves (black or cellophane covering and no covering)
- Put the leaves in different test tubes with alcohol
- Heat test tubes with water
- Rinse the leaves with water and place in a petri dish
- Cover leaves in iodine and leave for 1 minute
- Remove from leaves petri dish and place on dry paper towel
- Analyze the leaves
Conclusion
In conclusion to this lab, I learned a couple of things. The first thing I learned was that the different types of paper affect the amount of photosynthesis that happens in leaves. Also the different color leaves have different amounts of photosynthesis. I really liked this lab because it didn't really take that long to complete. There is nothing that I could do to improve this lab.
